Kilimanjaro Climb 7 days on Mountain
Starting at $1660 USD (Land Only)
With the best guides and porters in all of Tanzania, Limitless Adventures invites you to join us for a climb that is a life changing experience for all!
Our itinerary promotes the best possible chance of summiting the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, and standing atop what is affectionately known as The Roof of Africa!!
• Day 1- Jet Lag Day Relax in the Sun
Arrive in Arusha April 12th and relax at a nice hotel with a great pool for the evening, dinner and breakfast included! During dinner you will be briefed on what to expect for the upcoming climb.
• Day 2- Machame Gate (start the climb!)
We will start this morning off early and be at the Machame Gate by 7:30am. After our local guides finish registering with the Park Authority we will begin our climb through the lush rain forest to the Machame camp where we will set up camp for the night.
• Day 3- Shira Camp
On day 3 we will exit the rain forest and enter the Heather Ecosystem on our way from Machame camp to Shira camp. The Heather Ecosystem is the transfer from rain forest to more land. There is usually a deep fog in this area and a sleepy hollow feel to the Heather Ecosystem. This will also be our first opportunity for a side adventure! Depending on how the group feels we can make a short hike to the Shira cave and hear some amazing stories from our head guide Festo about the old ways of climbing Kilimanjaro.
• Day 4- Barranco Camp
Shira camp to Barranco camp. We will really begin acclimatizing on this day as we exit the Heather area and enter the Moorland zone. Today we will climb up to 15,000 feet by the infamous Lava Towers. We will have lunch at the Lava Tower and if you have the energy we may even try to climb the tower. We will then descend to the Barranco Camp at just under 13,000 feet and set up camp for the night.
• Day 5- The Wall
This is one by far the most exciting days besides the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. We descend a little bit to the eastern wall than scramble about 1,500 ft up The Wall. This section has nothing to technical but is really fun and will be the most challenging climbing of this climb. Class 3-4 climbing on the wall at its hardest no ropes required at any time. We will then continue on to the Karanga Valley camp at 13,900 ft where we will set up camp.
• Day 6- Almost there!!
This is the day we reach Barufu camp, our base for the summit. We will enter the High Alpine environment with little to no plant life. Expect some great views and fun scrambling to our last camp at just above 15,000 feet!
• Day 7- Summit Day!
A lot of groups like to start at midnight to see the sunrise from the peak of Kilimanjaro. This is an option, however we have found that getting as good a night sleep as possible is really important and waking just before sunrise to start the summit attempt generally makes the group more successful. The sunrise from base camp is the most amazing sunrise you will ever experience. The trek to the summit is very exciting. We will have lunch at Stella Point where we will be able to see the peak. Once we have successfully summited we will work our way back to Barufu camp where we will rest up for the final descent.
• Day 8- Descent
Down, down, down we go. This is the last day and it is a lot of down hill. We will descend all the way to the exit gate finishing our successful trip. We will then return to the hotel for some delightful showers and get ready for the Safari portion of this African Adventure.
